Blackface knocks Nigerian artists for their lack of morals

    Published on

Blackface believes there’s a bold lack of morals in Nigerian music.

Blackface is one-third of the legendary Afrobeats group Platainshun Boiz comprised of 2Baba FKA 2Face and Faze whose music contributed to the early growth of Afrobeats.

While appearing on The Honest Bunch podcast, Blackface stated that there’s an increasing lack of morality in Nigerian music. Blackface referenced Rema’s ‘Charm’ which he describes as a condescending song that displays an overt lack of morality.

According to Blackface, artists create music from the heart and the content of their music highlights their state of mind. He also stated that the artists making this music don’t represent Nigeria in a good light as the songs fail to explore morally and socially relevant topics.

In the podcast, Blackface also restated that his music continues to be illegally sampled and interpolated by Afrobeats stars.

The former Plantainshun Boiz who achieved some fame with his hit single ‘Hard Life’ stated that Wizkid and Burna Boy’s ‘Ginger’ is a remake of his single ‘Twist & Turn’. He also stated that Olamide’s ‘Don’t Stop’ is also crafted after one of his songs.

Blackface’s claims about artists stealing his songs have been a recurring one that started with his long battle with 2Baba FKA 2face over his international hit single ‘African Queen’. He has also accused Afrobeats superstar Asake of jacking his style for his hit single ‘Joha’.
