Grammy award-winning artist, Burna Boy, has claimed with his ‘full chest’ that, he sees no one better than him in the Nigerian music industry.
His claim is coming after winning his first Grammy award at the recently held awards ceremony a few days ago.
Burna Boy made this claim in an interview with BBC Africa last Saturday also believing that he would have won a Grammy award years ago if not for bad leadership in the country.
According to the ‘Way Too Big’ singer, he would have won a Grammy award in 2013 or 2014 and not in 2021 if “the environment was conducive” and the country had leaders that took the youth seriously and put certain infrastructures in place.
He went on to say that, though when he started on the streets people didn’t believe in him, he saw his Grammy moment happening in 2012 but he realized the music struggle was bigger than him, but now, “I don’t see anyone better than me.”
According to Burna, he was the cornerstone that was refused when it came to being in the music scene, so he felt relieved when he won the Grammy as he believed he deserved it.
“I was hoping a situation wouldn’t happen where I didn’t get what I deserved”, he stated.
He, therefore, went on to hope that, his experience will inspire others to keep chasing their dreams with the belief that, they can also succeed against the odds. “Anything is possible”, he said.
